Folk and folk-rock music inspired by a variety of traditions and music for modern medievalists

There's something here for lovers of history, reenactors, renaissance faire enthusiasts, fantasy gamers, and those who love a pint at the local Irish pub.

Kevin Valliquette sings and sometimes pretends to know how to play the guitar (since it has been pointed out that the humor is lost on some: the second part of that statement is sarcasm 😉). Members of the Society for Creative Anachronism may know him as Grímólfr Einarsson and may have seen him performing at campfires and on stages at many of the SCA's events, including the Green Dragon Tavern at Gulf Wars and the Performing Arts Pavilion at Pennsic. He has also been a member of the live band for Ken and Lisa Theriot's performances at these events for many years.

Sarah Golmon sings, plays hand percussion, has been known to dance a bit, and keeps threatening to take up playing bass. In the SCA she is known as Meg Sterling.

Kevin and Sarah also appreciate a broad variety of musical styles. Their metal project is Sable Dawn.

A traditional song sung at partings of many kinds. The timing of this release is to mark our moving away from a region we have called home for a long time.

I believe I first encountered the song at renaissance festivals in the '90s. I have heard many, many versions over the years, at faire gates to mark the end of the day, at pub closing time, and others. Here's my acapella choral take on it, featuring 9 of me singing in harmony with... well, me. -Kevin

My take on this traditional love ballad. The song's likely Scottish origin is alluded to with the reference to the River Clyde in the second verse. -Kev

A new arrangement of a very old song; the first published version appeared in the early 18th century in a collection published by Thomas d'Urfey, "Wit and Mirth; Or Pills to Purge Melancholy". The song is certainly about madness - "Bedlam" is the infamous Bethlem Royal Hospital insane asylum, London - and so a certain frenetic energy in the arrangement seemed appropriate. The history is disturbing, but the song feels fun, with an air of embracing one's circumstances.
